The VKR Grading photos are finally up and I am back to life after being sick for a whole week. Need to get back the strength to keep up with the everyday's work. More to come in this website!
Tak has reserved Red Silk on Bourke Street for Monday night after training. It's a Chinese restaurant and will be about $12~$15 a head depending on how much you drink. We will also be viewing a short documentary on Kang and Kendo.
Please confirm with Tak ASAP whether you will be going 'cuz he has to confirm the numbers with the restaurant. Check out the Events Calendar for more information.
Hope everyone can make it to next Monday's training as that would be Kang's last training at UMKC.
A message from Kang:
To my great friends at UMKC
Re: Kang's leaving. Please send your email and contact details to kangyanglim@yahoo.com
As some of you may be aware, I have resigned from work and will be leaving to travel the world for 5 months before going to find fame and fortune in London. I will be overseas somewhat indefinitely (for a few years at least), but will be sure to make a few surprise visits every so often.
It has trully been a pleasure knowing all of you and I will miss the warmth and comradery of our club and all the life long friends I have made along the way. Kendo is all about improving our character and it has been an honour to train and learn from all of you, beginners and seniors alike.
My last day of training at UMKC will be Monday 22 September. It would be great to see you at training so hopefully we can have a memorable last bash and a bite and drink afterwards. Being my last training might be a good opportunity to finally screen the long awaited "8 Lessons of the Samurai" comedy / adventure play that I wrote and performed with Chiaki, Daisuke and Tak as part of the motivational talk I did at work a few months back. I've been wanting to edit the tape (which is why it's taken so long), but still havn't found the time so you'll get to see 'the directors version - uncut" if you come along. (Sorry Chux, Tak and Dasterdly demon Daisuke...) The short Kendo documentary that I did for the Victorian College of the Arts - talking about how I take Kendo lessons into other aspects of my life, is ready to be nervously screened as well.
One very important thing I need to ask of you is (if you know me) could you please send your contact details and email address to me at kangyanglim@yahoo.com. Even if you know I have your email address, could you please send a note to my yahoo account so I can update my yahoo account. I will send my global updates to you at your personal account as I really don't know who is on this kendo club list and don't want to send mail to anyone that doesn't want to hear from me. As a preview, stay tuned for my adventures as over the next 5 months I meditate with monks in Tibet, search for Yeti's in Nepal, learn yoga and battle the runs in India, explore the pyramids and meet exotic belly dancers in Egypt, and dodge bullets in Jordan as I camp under the stars in the Wadi Rum desert as I follow the footsteps of Lawrence of Arabia...
Once again, thank you all for being such great friends and I sincerely hope our paths will cross again in the future.
