The Victorian Kendo Championships are coming up. Here are some further details regarding the tournament. Saturday August 20th. The venue will be the State Netball and Hockey Center. (Near the Zoo) 10 Brens Drv Parkville
(Note change of venue from previous year, and all on ONE day.)
As always the VKR requires as much help from members as possible to ensure that the tournament runs smoothly on the day. All Sandan players and above are expected to make themselves available for Shimpan. In addition the VKR needs volunteers for: Registration, shinai check and weigh in, scoreboard attendees / match announcers, scorers and timekeepers, courtside attendees (for ribbons etc), door attendees and ushers, etc. If you are not compeiting, and would like to volunteer please email Jimmy by July 2nd with your name and level of kendo experience. Note: Very little experience is required for most of these duties - so even if you only started this year, you are more than welcome and encouraged to help out! We will organise UMKC entrants very soon. Details about cost and the day's schedule will also be announced soon. If you have any questions please see a committee member, or email Jimmy. UMKC Committee
Training will run every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the usual times over winter.
The exception is MONDAY 13th JUNE, when there will be no training as the Sports Centre is closed because of Queen's Birthday Holiday.
During the winter break be sure to make full use of our training times. There are no study distractions and the class will usually be smaller which means your ability to learn and improve is increased.
Also, for those from the recent Beginner's course, Friday morning is a great opportunity to train and ask Seniors any questions you don't have a chance to during Mon or Wed.
For those studying - all the best with exams and final assessments!
