Special General Meeting
7.00pm, Monday 17th October, West Stadium

The UMKC constitution states that dojo (and membership fees) are to be set at either the AGM, or at a Special General Meeting (SGM).

As the committee would like to raise the dojo fees from the start of next year, we feel it best that an SGM be held before the end of theyear.

The changes would be as follows:

Training fee - $3
Armour hire - $2

Effective first training 2006.

While the committee would of course like to not raise the fees, there are a number of reasons which we feel make it necessary.

- If Voluntary Student Union (VSU) legislation is passed this year, then the changes will be effective from next year. This would result in a loss of our $3000 MUS subsidy, an extra fee per person to be member of the Sports Union and possibly a fee for the club to use the West Stadium.

- Our storeroom is at full capacity for armour, but we are still often short on armour, and a 'rotation' scheme is not ideal. The committee is in the process of establishing a scheme which will help members buytheir own set of armour, the increase in revenue will help us do this. (Details of this scheme will be announced later in the year.) We also need to replace the older sets of armour that the club owns.

- Fees have stayed the same since the club was formed over 15 years ago. This small increase is still cheaper than most other clubs.

- The club is a non-profit organisation, any money the club raises will be returned to members via grading, tournament, camp and social event subsidies.

- Membership fees will currently stay the same, but are determined from VKR and MUS fees which are subject to change.

We trust that you will support the committee in our proposal.

If you have any questions please feel free to email or ask the committee at training.
