UMKC Jacket Sizing Samples
We have just received sizing samples of the UMKC jackets. There are a
variety of sizes to suit everyone from the smallest to the tallest kendoka.

We can only hold onto these samples for a week; ergo, we require all members
who have ordered a jacket to come in to training on Monday (31st July) or
Wednesday (2nd August) to test-wear the jackets and find a suitable size.
Please arrive at 5:00pm, or alternatively, after training. Anthony will be
in charge; he will be waiting on the spectator's balcony. It is preferable
that you test-wear the jackets before training - in the interests of
hygiene.

We urge all members who have yet to pay for their jackets to pay by
Wednesday (2nd August) (Senseis excluded). The cost is $65; please hand your
payments to either Anthony or Roxy. Below is a list of members who have
already paid:

Viet Hoang
Chiaki Kobayashi
Yvonne Lin
Yakov Macak
Andy Meier
Son Nguyen
Chris Panagopoulos
Benjamin Sheppard
Kenji Sugimoto
Erick Tsai
Roxy Tsui

Annual Monash University Kendo Club Gasshuku 2006
The Monash University Kendo Club Gasshuku will be held this Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th of July. It is a kendo seminar covering everything from the fundamental basics (such as how to put on gear and dojo manners) to the more advanced (jigeiko and shiai). There is a strong beginner focus to the Gasshuku, and as such, it is highly recommended that kendoka who have started this year and have already worn full armour attend. Generally, it has been seen that members who attend the Gasshuku come out with a clear advantage over those who did not attend. As further encouragement, the University of Melbourne Kendo Club shall be subsidizing the entire fee for all who attend; this means you pay absolutely nothing.

The Gasshuku will be held in the same location as last year; Chisholm Hall on Monash University Caulfield campus. It lies on Dandenong Road (Princes Hwy) and is Caulfield Station is conveniantely 5 minutes away. It will be run from 10am to 4:45pm on the Saturday with an optional dinner afterwards, and from 10am to 2:45pm on the Sunday. Please note, the dinner will NOT be subsidized by UMKC.

Please write your details on the sheet at training on Wednesday. Alternatively, please email kendo@musa.net.au with your name, email address, whether you are a driver with a car, and if you can attend the full 2 days. We will try to organize a carpool to transport us from Melbourne Uni to the destination, and I will journey with any remaining people via Public Transport.

Yano Sensei and Kate Sylvester shall be leading the Gasshuku. Below is the schedule:

-----------------------------

From personal experience, I found the MUKC Gasshuku to be a truly awesome seminar. Yano Sensei is a terrific and wise sensei, and the practises we did pushed my boundaries. I came out with a clearer understanding of the little things like dojo orientation and bogu tips, and with greater control over my kendo. It's also a chance to train with and befriend kendoka outside of UMKC.

UMKC Jackets
Dear UMKC Kendokas,

We've got invoice already for the jacket so the orders need to be filled in very soon! Sorry, but they can only give us one sample (size L) until we pay the deposit. After that they can send us size samples so everyone can pick the right fit. The sizes available will be from S - XXL.

The jackets will be 65$ which includes your custom name embroidery. Please have a look at the pictures Ant attached. Also I'll bring sample we have to training.

We will start collecting the money from now til the 4th of August. Make sure you leave your name and money with either VINCCI, ANTHONY, or ROXY -- don't put it in the money box.

Try to pay ASAP -- if we are to have the jackets ready by the VKC -- we need the order filled by next week.
