2006 UMKC Championships
The 2006 UMKC Championships will be held on October 14th at our dojo, between 1pm and 5pm. It is free to enter, and all are recommended to compete.

Divisions will be decided close to the day, but it is likely to consist of a first-year's competition and a kyu competition; there may also be a dan competition if numbers permit. To that effect, please make sure you either email me (kendo AT musa.net.au), SMS me (0401516938 - Viet (I just love to hear from you)), or tell me in person your NAME and GRADE.

THE DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES IS NOW MONDAY, 9th of OCTOBER - the Monday before the Championships. Please submit your entries on time; late entries may not be considered!

Following the Championship will be a casual pizza dinner - free of charge for UMKC members.

We will also need some volunteers. If you are unable to compete, please volunteer your time to assist in scorekeeping and timekeeping - we will be extremely grateful.

Shinbashi - Yet another successful AUG
Success followed UMKC yet again in this year's Australian University Games, held in Adelaide.

After victories in the kyu individual and kyu team divisions, UMKC rapidly closed ground on the ever elusive open team division title, coming second to the University of Sydney Kendo powerhouse.

Thomas Mendelovits placed first in the Kyu Individuals, Ivan Chen second, Michael Dunn fourth, Viet Hoang fifth, and Kevin Wu sixth - the entire kyu team.

UMKC came first in the Kyu Teams, winning against companion university Monash.

UMKC came second in the Open Teams, losing to University of Sydney. It was an extremely good effort considering that the USYD team consisted of two dan grades.

An extremely successful year for UMKC in what may possibly be the final AUG! SHINBASHI!
