All beginners: Information has been forwarded to your inbox of the "ICHIBAN" starting equipment pack, which will contain a shinai, a shinai bag, and a uniform set. Price is $125. If you wish to order the ICHIBAN pack, please fill in the form attached to the email, or fill one in at training. Deadline for orders is the 2nd of April.
A shinai maintenance session will be held on the 2nd of April (Monday) after training. Here you will learn how to disassemble your shinai and take care of the different bits. This is VERY important as a well maintained shinai helps prevent it from breaking and splintering. We will begin selling shinai to beginners starting from next Monday, please try to have your own shinai by the 2nd of April as you can then take your shinai home and practice what you have been taught.
An end of beginners course pizza night will be held on the 19th of April. There will be drinks and food paid for by the club, as we offer everyone an opportunity to socialize and get to know the various members better.
On the first weekend of May ( Friday 4th to Sunday 6th) we will he holding out annual training camp in Ballarat. Costs for the event have yet to be finalized, but it should be around the annual amount of $100 AUD. The general idea of camp is a full days worth of training on Saturday, as well as half day training on Sunday. The camp offers you the chance to improve tremendously in kendo over the short weekend. In addition to that, we usually also get people from the Monash Kendo club to join us. This provides you with a good opportunity to get to know people there, as well as develop some friendly rivalries.
Finally, I would like to remind everyone that the seniors usually hang out for a drink (and sometimes dinner) after training on Monday. Feel free to hang around after training to join us.
If you would like to register for the forum, please use your full name as your user name. The reason for this is that forum registration is for club members only. Even though the forum is not used a lot it is checked regularly. Feel free to post any questions or comments you may have about kendo or the club and we will do our best to answer them promptly."
