This year Nanseikan Kendo Club will be celebrating its 10th anniversary. We would like to celebrate with members of the Victorian Kendo community and thank you all for your support.
Please come along and celebrate with us on Saturday 23 June. That day is Nanseikan's annual Kangeiko. All VKR kenshi are invited to train with us from 9.00am until 5.00pm. Those who are unable to make it to the whole day are still welcome to join us for jigeiko from 3.30pm.
Then we would like to invite you to stay to dinner after training and reminisce about the last 10 years, as well as make plans for the next 10 years!
The cost of the Kangeiko is $20.00. Cost of jigeiko is by donation. Dinner cost has not been finalised but will be somewhere around $15.00/head.
The Melbourne University Kendo Club will be ordering another round of club jackets for 2012. This is the official club jacket with club insignia embroidered on the front and back, and it is also personalised with your name.
The price for the jacket is $69.00.
Please note that it is not compulsory to buy a jacket.
If you would like to purchase one, please fill in the order form and return to club with payment by JUNE 1st.
We do not have samples available, so if you would like to try out a size, please politely ask an existing member who has a jacket if you can try out theirs. As an indication, I'm about 170cm and wearing an S, but could go an M.
It is a sad day for Australian Kendo.
Last night, sensei Ron Bennett passed away quietly.
Ron, as he liked to be known, was a founding member of Australian
Kendo in the 1960's and since then, Ron has continued to be a driver
of the development of kendo in Australia.
His efforts and interest was
consistent, strong and supportive over all those years.
Ron was also a mentor, support and good friend to many, many of us.
Our sympathy and condolences are extended to Ron's wife June and the
whole Bennett family.
The camp was a stunning success. Thank you to all who came, and thank you especially to Sensei, Kenji, Andrew, Kevin, and Thomas, as well as the organising committee.
You will be pleased to know that the ICHIBAN equipment packs have arrived in Melbourne.
As there are quite a few sets of uniforms and bags, we will be spending the next few days sorting them out into individual packs.
Those who are attending the KANAGAWA CAMP will be able to collect their ICHIBAN pack on Friday before we leave for Ballarat. You will be shown how to wear and fold your uniforms at the camp.
Everyone else will be able to collect their packs on the Monday following. Please arrive early (5:00pm) to collect your pack and be shown how to wear it.
