MUKEN Camp 2014

From May 9 to 11, 45 MUKEN members, 23 Monash Kendo Club, and 2 Ballarat Kendo Club members came together in Ballarat for a weekend of intensive training. Of those, 44 were beginners who started learning kendo in the beginning of 2014.These people braved the cold weather and floor, and risked the ire of their mothers, all in order to develop and improve their kendo and character. To guide us we were thankful to have amazing teachers in Yakov Macak Sensei, Hyun Hong Cho Sensei, Kenji Sugimoto Sensei, Daniel Jeong Sensei, and Gary Oliver Sensei who sacrificed their time for our sakes.
I would also like to thank Our Eternal Chairman Viet Hoang and all the committee members along whom each have done so much in making this camp happen. From the planning and preparation phase, to the day to day operations, without all these people our camp would have certainly turned into a reenactment of Lord of the Flies. Thank you all!
